The Foundation Session

If you're a woman who feels the disconnect between the care you're receiving and the care you truly need...

If you're exhausted by a medical system that treats your body as machine and your symptoms as noise...

If you're seeking a healthcare provider who sees all of you—body, heart, mind, and spirit...

…then I invite you to begin with The Foundation Session.

Ninety minutes where you're fully seen and heard. Where your medical history and your life story both matter. Where we start figuring out together what your body is trying to tell you and what you truly need.

How It's Different

You’ll feel the difference between Wise Body and healthcare-as-usual immediately.

Feel dismissed and overlooked by doctors?

Tell your story to someone who is listening with full presence and get suggestions for next steps that address both your need for medical care and your desire for respect and compassion.

Craving evidence-based medical care that includes your “woo” side?

Nothing is too woo to bring to the table at the Foundation Session. Wise Body recognizes that wisdom arrives in many forms. I want to hear your “crazy” hunch about what’s causing your chronic BV, about the dream you had that seems important to your pelvic pain, about the flash of insight that came to you while you were dancing.

These are not just amusing anecdotes—they just might hold the key to your health. In the Foundation Session you’ll start learning to read your body's signals and trust your intuition, as well as learn about your medical options and access appropriate medical interventions.

The Sacred Passage

After the Foundation Session, if you decide you want the full Wise Body experience, you can continue your care with a Sacred Passage. The Sacred Passage is Wise Body's core approach to women's health. It recognizes our bodies as wise and our cycles as sacred. It treats our body’s transitions, like menstruation and perimenopause, as spiritual initiations to honor, while still providing comprehensive medical support. In each passage, we meet every two weeks for six months. There are four passages, each addressing a different aspect of health. During the Foundation Session you will learn more about the Sacred Passages and have the opportunity to begin one if you wish.

Hi, I’m Jane Riccobono, CNM, WHNP

I became a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner thinking I could change things from inside the system. After years of watching myself become what I didn't want to be—rushed, burned out, unable to provide the care I knew women deserved—I had to choose.

I could keep trying to fit myself into a system that treats women's natural cycles as inconveniences to be suppressed. Or I could step into what I know to be true: that women's bodies are wise. That our cycles are sacred. That the pain we experience often carries messages we need to hear. That healthcare can be both scientifically sound AND spiritually profound.

Perfect for You If

You're tired of 15-minute appointments that treat your symptoms but ignore root causes.

You've sat in exam rooms feeling rushed, dismissed, or unheard. You leave with a prescription but no answers, a diagnosis but no understanding. You deserve more than a medical system that sees you as a collection of parts rather than a whole person.

You're seeking a provider who won't make you choose between medical expertise and spiritual wisdom.

You've been afraid to mention your intuitive hunches, your dreams, your sense that your body is trying to tell you something. You're done hiding your "woo" side to be taken seriously. You want healthcare that honors both the science and the sacred.

You're navigating a major transition, such as perimenopause or postpartum, and conventional medicine offers pills but no meaning.

You're told your symptoms are "just hormones" or "normal for your age," but no one is explaining anything beyond that. You're craving guidance that treats this time in your life as transformation.

Your intuition conflicts with medical advice and you feel gaslit.

You sense something deeper is happening, but doctors dismiss your concerns or offer only Band-Aid solutions. You're mourning the disconnection between modern medicine and ancestral wisdom. You need a provider who validates your inner knowing while offering medical safety and support.

You've "tried everything" and nothing has brought lasting relief.

You've cycled through providers, treatments, and approaches. You're exhausted by being told to just push through, just take this pill, just accept that this is how it is. You're ready for someone who will take the time to truly understand your whole situation—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

You want to trust your body's wisdom while having a medical safety net.

You're not rejecting modern medicine—you're rejecting a system that ignores your wholeness. You want a partnership approach where your voice matters, where your body's messages are honored, and where appropriate medical interventions are available when you need them.

You're lonely in your search for healthcare that honors all of who you are.

Your friends don't quite get it. Conventional doctors think you're difficult. Alternative practitioners sometimes lack the medical expertise you need. You're craving community, understanding, and a provider who bridges both worlds.

You're ready to make your health your #1 priority.

You're done settling for care that doesn't serve you. You're ready to be seen, heard, and supported in all dimensions of your healing journey. You're ready to experience healthcare as it should be—rooted in relationship, wisdom, and genuine care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Foundation Session is a 90-minute video consultation where we dive deep into your health history, current concerns, and the spiritual and life context surrounding your wellbeing.

  • There is an art as well as a science to healing. In the foundation session, in addition to medical assessment and treatment (including blood work and prescriptions as needed), you will receive holistic guidance and support.

Sessions often include meditation and movement. You will be heard deeply and thoroughly. Your concerns will be considered carefully. And you will be given a specific, individualized plan to take you from where you are to where you want to go.

  • I treat a range of different women’s health and reproductive health conditions including painful periods, PCOS, irregular cycles, menopause, and perimenopause.

  • Insurance companies dictate the length, content, and scope of medical appointments. They decide what's "medically necessary" and what isn't. They don't reimburse for 90-minute deep-dive consultations. They don't cover time spent reviewing your full history, discussing your spiritual context, or exploring root causes. They have never covered the kind of care you're looking for here—and that's not a coincidence. That's by design.

Accepting insurance would mean 15-minute appointments. It would mean billing for a narrow set of services and ignoring everything else. It would mean becoming the very system you came here to leave. Choosing to operate outside of insurance is choosing to give you genuine, unhurried, whole-person care. It's the same choice you're making when you seek out a practice like this one.

  • Possibly, yes. While Wise Body does not bill your insurance directly, you will receive a Superbill upon request after your session. You can submit this directly to your insurance company to request reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits. Alternatively, you may be able to pay with your HSA or FSA, as many integrative and women's health services qualify.

  • Wise Body currently serves patients living anywhere in New York State via telehealth. Limited in-person visits in New York City are also available.
